Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching and we’re all getting twitterpated around here!  We love flowers, we love designing bouquets, and we love being part of spreading romance around Central Iowa!

When you think Valentine’s Day, you think roses, right?  Well, that’s not always the case.  Valentine’s flowers don’t have to be all red roses and baby’s breath – here are some of the trendiest and most popular floral choices for Valentine’s Day 2012, according to Bloomin’ Blog!

5.     Alstroemeria

Alstroemeria resembles a lily, but with delicate rounded petals.  The blooms are big and flamboyant and come in many colors.  This flower will definitely make an impression and will get attention!

4.     Carnation

These sweet, overlooked flowers have made quite a comeback recently!  Florists love to showcase the dainty ruffles in all the new colors and styles of carnations that have made an appearance.  Not only do they come in many bright and unique colors and sizes, you have to admire their longevity!

The great harbinger of spring, this elegant bloom has “romance” written all over its graceful shape!  Available in many different colors and sizes, the tulip’s meaning is all about love – red to ‘declare’ your love and yellow to say you’re ‘hopelessly in love’ – is there a better choice for Valentine’s Day?

The true lily is and has always been a favorite!  This classic beauty can be twice the size of roses and the array of beautiful colors makes it nearly impossible NOT to love this flower!  Ranging in color from bright red to pure white, the lily is sure to be a crowd-pleaser!
