Beaverdale: America’s Prettiest Neighborhoods

by tomboesen on October 11, 2011

Beaverdale was listed in Forbes as one of America’s Prettiest Neighborhoods and we couldn’t agree more!

Forbes: America's Prettiest Neighborhoods

“Featuring bucolic parks, attractive historic churches and a small bunch of popular area restaurants, Beaverdale stands out among Des Moines’ neighborhoods and is a great place to while away a weekend day. “Most of the brick homes date to the 1930s, and nestle underneath towering shade trees and along streets with parkways running down the middle,” says Williams. There is a popular fall festival and plans are in the works to start a farmer’s market in the neighborhood next summer.” – Forbes

In 1923 Betty and Theodore Boesen opened Boesen The Florist’s main store and greenhouse on Beaver Avenue. Now as the third generation operating Boesens we have been delighted to see how Beaverdale has flourished through the years. Betty and Theodore could not have picked a more perfect location for the first Boesen The Florist location!

While touring the beautiful Beaverdale area be sure and stop by Boesen The Florist right on Beaver Avenue!

I want to take second and put a plug in for the Beaverdale Young Professionals (BYP).  They’ve done a lot to give back to the Beaverdale community and I want to give them some props for all the work they do to build this wonderful community.

This weekend, the BYP is hosting the 2nd Annual Beaverdale Crawl.  A ticket is only $20 which will get you a t-shirt, drink specials and a great time.  To help them out we’re throwing in a free rose everyone at every stop you make on the crawl.  It will be a great time and I would encourage all of you, especially those in the Beaverdale Community to come have some fun and support the Beaverdale Community and Beaverdale Young Professionals.  Details below on what will happen.  The BYP has supported organizations like Habitat for Humanity, Calvin Manor Retirement Community, Beaverdale Fall Fest Beer Olympics and even sponsored a family this past Christmas with $500 raised from their Holiday Sweater Party.

You can RSVP and even invite your friends by clicking here.

You can get all the details and find out where to pay the $20 by clicking here.
